Lego Black Falcon Castle
the ultimate lego castle using vintage pieces
When I was a boy, I was a big fan of Lego. I had a bunch of sets, and I loved building my own creations from all the pieces. Since my son was born, I’ve gotten to revisit all the toys I remember from my childhood, and Lego was top on the list. After revisiting all the old sets I had as a boy, I decided to design the ultimate castle for my son. I wanted it to be fun to play with, but also plausible as a real castle.
The castle is built in four modules. At the front is the Gatehouse, where you enter the structure. The East Wing and West Wing flank the Gatehouse, and each opens up to reveal various interior spaces. At the rear is the Barracks and Stable Module. The modules and pieces in between are meant to be built separately, then combine together into the main structure. The animation below shows each of the pieces.
Once the entire structure is built, it can function as a closed structure, as pictured above, or it can open up to create a one-sided castle with a front and back. The animation below shows the castle opening up to reveal the interior spaces of the East Wing and West Wing.
Once opened up, the castle features an imposing front façade and an inviting rear façade. It’s perfect for defending against enemy attacks, as well as playing with the day-to-day workings of the interior spaces.
The East Wing features the Great Hall, complete with a removable wood truss roof structure and a Chapel, complete with altar and stained glass windows. Below the Great Hall is the brewhouse and storehouse, and a below the Chapel is the Crypt.
In the West Wing, there are two levels. On the first level is a Throne Room and the Royal Dining Room. Above these are the Royal Study, complete with library of books, and the Royal Bedchamber, which features a large window that overlooks the castle courtyard.
I’ll post images of the built version once the entire structure is built.
